I thought all young people were into blogging. I guess I was wrong for no one logs onto this blog except me. Okay, this is not as cool as MY Space or whatever else is out there. I don't want this to really "be cool" as much as helpful and relevant to you. Its nice to talk to strangers who don't really care about you as much as using you are getting their own perverted pleasures out of an online relationship. Wouldn't it be better to tell your problems to someone who knows you and loves God, someone like your Pastors!!!?? I can't say I don't have a agenda but my agenda is YOU. What is up? How are you? What is nagging at you? What do you feel guilty about?
All communication can be kept confidential unless you decide otherwise or I sense that you are threatening to harm yourself or someone else or are actually abusing someone.

All you young people out there blog I presume but probably on the "hip" or "hot" sites such as Myspace or some such. You probably say things you don't want us adults to hear. Maybe you think the things you say are sinful and no doubt some of them may be. But I think you want to express yourself and maybe you don't think we at 2EFC can handle it. Well, let me challenge you. If you like to blog, then let me hear what you have to say. We can keep it confidential. You can blog it here or send me email at tony@2efc.org. What ever you say God hears anyway so why not let His reps on earth listen in too.
What's up with our young people? We are quite concerned for them because some of them are behaving badly. Some of them come to church just to hang out. This is not what Church is for. If you come to church to hang out, you have got to hang out in a way which encourages your spiritual growth and well-being. God is holding us responsible for this. You can't just sit and pal around with your friends. You have got to get into relationship with Jesus. There is time for fellowship and hanging out but that is after we have worshiped together. You will be better off for it. I wish that someone had cared about me enough when I was a kid in church to show me the love of God. Most of what I got was not that God cared but that He was angry. Later in life I found out that Jesus loved me so much that He died for me even before I loved Him, even before I believed in Him.
I wonder how our young people have responded to the Virginia Tech massacre? What makes this more real to me is that the killer, Cho was an Asian who resembles some of our kids, not in physical appearance. He spent too much time on the Internet, he was not aware of Jesus as His savior and Lord, he felt that everyone else had bullied him. That part about the bullies gets to me. I was bullied in school: grammar and High School as well as in my neighborhood. I was a loner, very self centered and shy, socially inept, a nerd. I could have turned out like Cho but I did not. Even as a Catholic I was rooted in a godly family that though not perfect though me basic morality and respect for others. That is what we try to teach our young people who come to church these days. You might not get that from your parents, and certainly don't get it from your schools, but you should expect the church to lead you into godly behavior and to love you despite your flaws and weakness. Maybe love you because of them!
Hey everyone. Check out pictures from our mission trip to Mississippi. There are some great shots there of everyone working. Too bad none of the pictures show how truly hot it was that week. I think I'm still sweating! Anyway - for those of you who didn't go, I hope you feel like you missed out on something and you begin making plans now so that you can go next summer on our mission trip! Till then - later.
Hey all you junior highers - this wednesday we will be going the Bronx Zoo! Show up at the church at noon and we will be home by 6pm. It doesn't cost you anything! We will be driving there, so you don't even have to pay for a metro card. For all of you who have been before - it's ton of fun. So, we'll see you there! If you want to check out what all they have there, check out the website here.
Well, our group is preparing to leave for Mississippi in just one week. I have done many missions trips in my years, but I am really looking forward to this one because of the people who are going. I really like the dynamics of this team. It seems like we have a lot of people who are eager to go, serve, get to know new people, and be of as much help as possible. Isn't that cool?
Well, if you are interested, come this friday night to church as we will be having a sending service at 7pm - complete with music, prayer and some thoughts. Hope to see you there!
This is the future home of the youth group of 2nd Evangelical Free Church - the coolest church in Brooklyn, NY. Welcome!
